the JOURNEY SO FAR

G’day.

Uncle Terry here. I’ve been asked to jot down a few bits and pieces about The Pwitty Widdles. I like my sentences, how I like my conversations: short. So get used to a few full. Effen. Stops. Ya. Dog. Right, I’ve known these boys a long, long time. Longer than I’d care to remember. Lucky for them, I don’t really. I reckon they got started back in 2009 odd. Their first EP, a fairly challenging listen it must be said, was released back in 2011. Although at the time of course they considered it the ducks nuts. A sure fire entry into the pantheon of Australian rock. As it turns out, it was like most first efforts: shithouse. But what can you expect? It was their first go. The next one, a year later, was better. I Am Not From A Small Town they called it. Bit of tongue in cheek from the lads, eh? Ya see Jack is a devotee of The Vasco Era. Was then and is now I believe. You’ll have to ask him. Actually don’t start him talking. Do ya self a favour. Anyway ya can join the dots on that one ya self. It was a better effort. The next one, Mash hmm juries out. Some belters don’t get me wrong, but some absolute shockers too. Again, what can you expect? Gospel came along in 2015 and the yank accent disappeared thankfully. Not sure what happened there, let’s put it down to pragmatism. Anyway I don’t know why I’m here listing the records for ya. Here’s the moral of the story: There’s heaps of them and they get better. I’d better finish the list now that I’ve started it.

  • Soft Rock For The Anxious came out around 2016, Skeleton Run in 2018, Weekend Away in 2020 and then Force in 2025. 5 years between drinks, eh? Yeah well a fair wack happened in that time. Ya see Simon, Will and Jono dipped out around 2021 odd. It was getting a bit stale, must be said. It looked like the end of the band to be honest. I was gutted for the lads. I’d also built up a steady reliance on their riders over the years, ya see? Free piss was an essential part of our relationship. What was I gonna do now? Pay for it? Short answer: no. I was shattered. Jack started a few other projects in that time. Bit of solo gear. Another one called Numnuts. Another one called Money God Band. Ya can find it if you're desperate. There was another one too. Dolmades. You know ‘em? Little slippery greek things wrapped in leaves. Come in a tin. Absolutely delicious. Chefs kisses mate. Anyway this was pretty significant ya see. JP, Liam and Sam were in that. They play in that mob Neighbourhood Youth. Them and Littles were always gallivanting around having a good time. Playing shows here and there. Carried on and all that. Anyway they got together for Dolmades. Littles and Neighbourhood Youth weren’t doing a whole lot at the time. But after all that Jack decided to get the Littles going again. He didn't know how that’d look like being the only member. He begged Will to play drums on a couple of new ones in 2023-ish. Foce and Full Hearts were the tunes. Eventually Sam and Liam joined the live band. They played 3 shows together before Will bowed out for a second and final time. JP put his hand up. All of a sudden TPL were alive. Shows and tours followed. A new bloody record. All that jazz. And you know what? There’s more music to come. So guess whose free piss is back on the cards? That’s right, ya Uncle Terry’s. Anway that’s about it from me. There’s plenty of their tunes and clips and all that crap around. See ya in the pit. Obviously I’m joking, I’ll be in the front bar or in the car.
